A Bavarian pumped-storage power plant needed modernization: In addition to the electrical equipment upgrade, the plant’s control system was removed and replaced by a Siemens T3000. The power plant has been integrated in the regional utility company’s network and is centrally controlled without permanent supervision. It takes just 90 seconds for the power plant to reach total capacity. And, thanks to the control system, it has remote black-start capability.

Should alarms occur, the control system forwards them via text message and speech output. On his Android smartphone, the technician in charge will receive the alarm message and additional information. At a glance, he can see exactly where the malfunction took place, whether someone else has already care of it, or whether the message is still active.

The Alarm Control Center was a decisive factor for controlling the plant operation without permanent supervision and helps ensure cost-efficient operation day after day.
